Canopy By Hilton Zagreb

4-Star Canopy By Hilton Zagreb City Centre Croatia Hotel Review

During my six month stint in Europe, I mainly stuck to Airbnbs (and found some great ones). But sometimes you just want to treat yourself for one or two nights. I did that during the last night of my near-three month stay in Croatia and booked the Canopy By Hilton Zagreb. I wasn’t disappointed.

Below, I’m going to take you through why you should definitely consider booking the Canopy By Hilton if you are passing through Zagreb or staying the week.

Booking the Canopy By Hilton Zagreb City Centre

First, I should mention that what originally spurred my booking of the Canopy By Hilton in Zagreb was that I had recently discovered Lolli.com, a cashback (well…Bitcoin back!) browser extension and application offering up to 30% cashback when shopping online (including hotels and travel). When booking with Hotels.com via the Lolli extension, I received roughly USD $7 back in BTC on a USD $118 booking price.

This definitely adds up and will be my preferred extension (and application) when booking hotels and other travel in the future. You can use my referral link to sign up if you’d like to help support Pale Ale Travel!

Canopy By Hilton Location

One of the main reasons I chose the Canopy By Hilton was because of its location and proximity to the Zagreb Bus Station (Autobusni Kolodvor) – about a 7 minute walk. The address of the Canopy By Hilton Zagreb is: Ul. Kneza Branimira 29, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia, which is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the city center and 1 minute walk from the Branimir Mall (also known as Branimir Centre).

Luckily, Zagreb is an easily walkable city that can be tackled all in a single day of aggressive walking – so you are never more than a stone’s throw away from where you want to be.

As some rooms at the Canopy By Hilton are facing Kneza Branimira (the street), I would recommend asking at check-in for a room that is not directly on the street, as it can get a tad noisy at night.

Quick Tip: If you are looking for an evening out in Zagreb, I suggest checking out El Toro for dinner, a modern, fusion Latin restaurant and bar located just a 15 minute walk away.

Now that we’ve tackled location, let’s move on to the rooms, amenities, and more.

My experience with Hilton rooms is that they can either be extremely modern and new age, or extremely outdated. From the second you walk into the Canopy By Hilton Zagreb, it feels like you are in a sleek, trendy space-age hotel, so I was optimistic about my room. I can only explain the hotel as a mix between a classic New York vibe hotel and traditional Croatian flare.

I booked a single room with a king size bed, which was extremely comfortable thanks to the gel memory foam and “Serta Cool Balance” technology. Besides the king size bed, the layout consisted of a desk to work out of, chair in the corner, LCD TV, coffee maker, and walk-in shower (in an extremely spacious modern bathroom).

The room was extremely clean and cozy, and I actually posted up watching several movies on my laptop (as I got in from Split early in the afternoon). WiFi was spot on and enabled me to crank out some much needed work later in the night. This is as functional a hotel room as I have ever seen, and I would definitely recommend the Canopy By Hilton if you are passing through Zagreb on business.

As I was gearing up for a near 5 hour bus ride to Vienna the next day, I did not check out the fitness or business center. I also did not try out their on-site restaurant as I wanted to check out El Toro (as mentioned above). I will note that when I arrived, there were a handful of people happily slugging cocktails and nibbling on snacks at the Canopy Central Cafe and Bar

Once again, both make this hotel extremely functional for business professionals or those looking to get a sweat on after eating too much Croatian krafne

Final Thoughts on the Canopy By Hilton Zagreb City Centre

I would be remiss to not mention that the staff was exceptional and extremely helpful. And, they had awesome work attire that consisted of what looked like barbershop quartet outfits with suspenders. Should you have forgotten (or just didn’t have the time) to convert any money into Croatian Kuna, the front desk will exchange it for you (this includes a 3% fee).

If you’ve stayed at the Canopy By Hilton in Zagreb or anywhere else (and have any recommendations), I’d love to hear from you!
