My Mediavine Journey Earnings in April 2025 (& Where I’ve Been)

When life comes at you, it comes at you fast. Both the good and the bad. Fortunately, this time around it was ‘the good’. The dawg has a full-time client (that’s looking like it will transition to a traditional full-time position) that has taken my life by storm and galvanized him into a professionally and personally fulfilling state of action.

It’s why I’m publishing this April 2025 Mediavine Journey earnings report at the end of May – which was relatively par for the course earnings-wise.

Make sure to check out all of my previous income reports here for a better idea of where (and when) I started.

April 2025 Mediavine Journey Earnings

Pale Ale Travel April Mediavine Journey earnings

My average RPM for the month dropped from $5.65 in March to $4.74 in April – any hope I once had for a $7 or $8 RPM on Journey has gone out the window.

$60.27 for the month of April is a tad less than March but still far better than previous months. I did, however, expect to see things increase far more than they did as I really pumped a good chunk of time into content and had been publishing roughly 15-plus posts per month in the lead-up.

So, even though I increased my viewership by over 1300 sessions per month, I earned less. With my average RPM dropping by almost $1, that makes sense.

Once you’re settled (stuck?) in that ‘RPM zone’, earnings seem extremely capped and I’m not sure there’s a way to break out other than solely writing for Tier-1 U.S. traffic.

The goal is still to slowly creep my way up to 50,000 sessions per month. However, this ‘journey’ with Mediavine Journey has given me some pause on whether it’s the right ad network for Pale Ale Travel.

I’m not going to rock the boat and change anything up at this point as I don’t foresee publishing consistently enough in the coming months that I make considerable progress with traffic.

But when that day comes (if ever), I may be jumping ship.

Pale Ale Travel Tip: More than a handful of people have reached out to me asking what the best platform to get started blogging is (in my opinion) so I put together an article breaking down WordPress vs. Beehiiv for bloggers (especially beginners).

Up Up & Away, Kid Cudi-Style

What do I miss? I miss writing for myself and having the mental bandwidth to conceptualize, draft, edit, and publish content that’s authentically me. But I also don’t miss the unpredictability of Google and how difficult it can be to make a buck.

I’ve gone from dreaming of a lifestyle inspired by 50 Cent’s ‘Power of the Dollar’ to Warren Buffet’s ‘Value of a Dollar’. The reality for most aspiring bloggers, myself included, is that it is and will never be more than a hobby. But that’s alright and doesn’t diminish the output whatsoever.

Start from the baseline that if it brings you joy creating and putting something out there, in whatever medium it is, then that’s a win. Everything else is gravy, groovy, and great.

I do not doubt that Pale Ale Travel will ebb and flow with the amount of content I’m able to push out each week, month, and year. For the time being, it’s looking like it will take a back seat to earn some more traditional (predictable) skrilla.

But keep your eyes peeled, as there’s still a lot of content to come.

Blog well everyone,

Big Body
