Month Six of Earnings on Mediavine Journey [February 2025]
Well…that’s another month in the books and another month that left a lot to be desired. Traffic has stagnated for the last three-plus months and I’m not really sure what the situation with my site is. Regardless, I’m still enjoying writing as it serves as something to keep me busy in my neverending search for new clients.
I’m getting to a point where something has ‘gotta give’. A ‘take a dump or get off the pot’ type of deal. As you’ll see below, my earnings on Mediavine Journey just aren’t cutting it.
To be fair, I have not been publishing as frequently as I’d like to so I’ll own up to that.

Here is how much Pale Ale Travel made using Mediavine Journey in January 2025.
February 2025 Mediavine Journey Earnings

While February was only 28 days, it was still my lowest-earning month across the board.
For the month of February, I earned a grand total of $38.35. Once again, I hovered just over 10,000 page views per month and around 8,000 sessions. My RPM of $4.69 was nearly $1 lower than the previous month’s.
However, from everything I know, this is par for the course with ads in the early part of the year.

My highest daily RPM for the month was $7.10, which I was pretty happy with. If only I could sustain these every single day.
Either way, roughly $5 RPMs are pretty brutal and I’m still wondering how so many others on Mediavine Journey are seeing $15+ RPMs – especially when my traffic is all considered Tier 1.
My overall earnings are negligible. So much so that I don’t even think it’s worth exploring a different ad network. Rather, the goal is to continue to focus on publishing quality content and (hopefully) achieving 50,000 sessions per month.
Considering my number of sessions and pageviews per month have not moved in any positive direction over the last 5 to 6 months, even after months of heavy publishing, I’m not sure of the reality of achieving 50,000 sessions.
This isn’t Big Body being a defeatist. Big Body just has to eat. So, I’ve got to focus on what can help me start making money outside of the blog.
Pale Ale Travel Tip: If you’re new to blogging and want a free, intuitive platform to start with, I recommend checking out Beehiiv. While it’s primarily a newsletter platform, it allows users to design and customize websites (for free). You can read more about it in my article Beehiiv vs. WordPress For Blogging.
The SERP Ides of March
I’m at a professional crossroads at the moment. Trying to pivot away from previous client work in favor of a new type (mostly travel-related). However, Big Body hasn’t had many bites so far.
So, while I’d love to put every ounce of blood, sweat, and beer into this blog, I’ve hit a point where I need to be pragmatic and also focus on making money elsewhere.
Things ebb and flow. That’s where I’m ebbing at the moment.

Blog well everyone,
Big Body
Big Body is a voracious lov…eater, a cowardly fighter, and a self-proclaimed curry goat BBQ-eating champion (don’t forget the donkey milk) who likes Stoicism, baseball, and writing in the third person. Having worked for himself for the last 7 years, he isn’t particularly successful but he does still drink ice-cold Sapporo draft beers with the best of them and knows his way around a Dai Pai Dong or two. He is based in Hong Kong but you can still find him in Saigon, Osaka, and Vienna for extended periods.
